From ZNMD to Gully Boy: Ranbir Kapoor’s rejected films that turned into blockbuster gold

Ranbir Kapoor rejected several major films like Gully Boy, ZNMD, and Band Baaja Baaraat, which later became hits and boosted other actors’ careers.
Ranbir Kapoor, known for his versatility and strong screen presence, has surprisingly passed on several major film offers that later turned into massive hits. One of the most notable was Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), where he declined the role of Bittoo Sharma, which eventually launched Ranveer Singh’s career. In Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Ranbir was considered for the role of Arjun, later played by Hrithik Roshan in the cult classic directed by Zoya Akhtar. He was also the first choice for 2 States (2014), based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel, but the role went to Arjun Kapoor. In Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Ranbir was approached for the role of Kabir, which again went to Ranveer Singh. Lastly, he turned down the lead role of Murad in Gully Boy (2019), a film that brought critical acclaim to Ranveer Singh. These films not only became box office successes but also played a key role in shaping the careers of other leading actors.
