Aamir Khan on his nephew Imran Khan`s failed career


Aamir Khan recently opened up about his nephew and actor Imran Khan`s failed Bollywood career. For the unversed, Imran made his debut with  Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in 2008. Although the film was successful, his later films failed to impress the audience. The Sitaare Zameen Par actor recently shared how his nephew told him why he quit acting 10 years ago. Aamir said that Imran “finds it difficult to fit into the mainstream construct”, adding that the reason why he “won`t fit” in regular mainstream Hindi movies.

During a chat with Indian Express, Aamir Khan noted that Imran “wants to be an actor, not a star” and that he is not “comfortable with herogiri”. Aamir shared, “Yes, Imran has a certain creative instinct. He finds it difficult to fit into the mainstream construct we have. That’s not his natural space. Which is why he’d do really well in a film like Jaane Tu and Delhi Belly (2011). He’s in his element there.”

“But the moment you put him into a regular Hindi film, he won’t fit. He’s not comfortable with herogiri. He wants to play a real person. Everybody was offering him mainstream films because he’s good-looking. But he wants to be an actor, and not a star,” he added.
Imran Khan career, break and comeback
Imran Khan was seen onscreen in multiple films as a child artist, wherein he portrayed the childhood version of Aamir`s character. These include films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Later, he made his debut as a lead actor in 2008 in the film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na alongside Genelia D`Souza.

Post that, he starred in several other films such as Kidnap, Luck, I Hate Luv Storys, Break Ke Baad, Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. He was last seen on screen 10 years ago in the film Katti Batti with Kangana Ranaut in 2015. Ever since, he has been on a break from films.
For a long time now, reports have been claiming that the actor is considering making an acting comeback and is in search of a suitable project. Recently, Imran revealed that a spy series by Abbas Tyrewala with Disney+ Hotstar was in the works, however, it got canned for unknown reasons.
