Jason Momoa has been confirmed to join the cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as the iconic DC antihero Lobo. The 2026 adaptation of Tom King’s acclaimed comic book series will be directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by DC Studios.The film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Superman’s cousin, in her first major superhero role. Matthias Schoenaerts has been cast as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hill, while Eve Ridley will portray Ruthye Marye Knoll, a central character in the story.Momoa, who last appeared in DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, expressed his excitement about playing the interstellar bounty hunter. Sharing the announcement on Instagram, he recalled his longstanding connection to the character, saying, “Lobo was always my favorite… If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f*** yeah.”Lobo, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, debuted in Omega Men #3 in 1983. Known for his violent tendencies, dark humor, and immense strength, the Czarnian antihero is a stark contrast to more traditional DC heroes.
The film, part of James Gunn’s unified DC Universe, promises a fresh take on Supergirl. Gunn teased that this Supergirl is “much more hardcore” than previous portrayals, shaped by a harsh upbringing on Krypton before arriving on Earth.Production on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to begin on January 13.
