The Museum Police in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday (June 7, 2025) registered a case against actor-cum-politician G. Krishnakumar and his family on charges of kidnapping and extortion based on a complaint filed by a woman employee of his daughter Diya’s firm. According to the complainant, she was kidnapped by Mr. Krishnakumar and Diya and money was extorted from her, said the police.Embezzlement case against employeeOn the other hand, the police have also registered a case of embezzlement against the female employee based on the complaint filed by Mr. Krishnakumar and his daughter. Speaking to The Hindu, Sub Inspector Vipin, who is investigating the case, said both parties have raised a slew of allegations against each other in their complaints. Though the police have registered two cases, further steps in the cases will be taken up only after looking into the merit of their allegations and claims, said the SI. Speaking to the media, Mr. Krishnakumar said three female employees working in the firm of his daughter had embezzled around ₹69 lakh from the firm when she was staying away from the shop in connection with Diya’s pregnancy. As the issue came to light and initiated the police proceedings against the accused, the accused women employees approached them and paid around ₹8 lakh initially after seeking time to return the rest of the money. Though they requested us not to file a complaint, they later changed their stance and threatened my daughter over the phone, following which a police complaint was filed on May 30 or 31, he claimed. The new complaint is a counter-complaint. “We, however, understand that the police registered the cases under non-bailable provisions against all six members of my family, including my son-in-law,” he said.He also brought the issue to the attention of the Chief Minister’s Office through an email.
