Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment in Rian Johnson’s acclaimed whodunit series. The film is set to premiere on December 12, 2025.Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc, who this time faces what is being described as his “most dangerous case yet.” The teaser offers few details but opens with Blanc declaring, “The impossible crime,” over shadowy visuals of a church, setting the tone for another mystery.The plot remains tightly under wraps, though the teaser and brief synopsis hint at a more complex investigation than previous entries. Johnson, who also wrote and directed Knives Out and Glass Onion, once again takes the reins for this sequel.The ensemble cast includes Kerry Washington, Josh Brolin, Cailee Spaeny, Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Thomas Haden Church, Daryl McCormack, Annie Hamilton, Kerry Frances, and Marcus Edward Bond. Brolin and O’Connor are both set to play priests, while Kunis takes on the role of a police chief named G. Scott.Several cast members joined Johnson at Netflix’s Tudum 2025 live event to preview the film. Craig made a surprise appearance to close the segment, wearing signature blue-tinted sunglasses, while Glenn Close joked via video that she was “stuck in traffic.”Produced by Johnson and Ram Bergman under their T-Street banner, the film is part of Netflix’s two-sequel deal for the Knives Out franchise. Music will be composed by Nathan Johnson, continuing his collaboration with the director.
